Creative Drawing
Grades K - 12 (2 to 6 days)

Materials - Pencils, drawing paper, and any coloring medium of choice.

Equipment - Slide projector

Day 1: I will begin with a presentation about the elements of art; imagination, self-expression, creative process, experimenting, problem solving and story telling. Then I will show slides of some of my murals, sculptures and painting and I will demonstrate how I tell stories with my art. I will also show slides of other artist and show how artist use their imaginations to "think out of the box". Then I will give students a theme or let them choose a word(s) from a list of word I have chosen.

Day 2: Students will create a drawing depicting the theme or word(s) they have chosen. After completing their drawing, they can color it.

Day 3: Write a story to interpret their drawing.

Day 4: Optional - You can put students in groups of 4 to 6 and have them use their individual drawing and combined them together to create a mural design. This could take an additional two to three days to create.
