Primero, I must say that I was deeply awed by your work. It grabs you and
touches something deep within. Especially “La Que Nos da Our Dreams.”
I feel like the lady with the Rosary is reading my mind; she emanates great
wisdom. Your collection that is displayed here at the school is so diverse
that it is hard to believe that each piece was created by the same artist.
I admire your courage and drive to try new things and to take risks. Also, your rich use of color nicely represents the vitality and vibrantness of the Latino people. I also respect your desire to teach history through your art. In this age of globalization, individual cultures are getting lost in the mix. Your work has helped Latinos to keep their culture alive, to stand as a point of accomplishment and pride. Your work really shouts “This is who we are.....this is where we came from.” I have to say that my favorite piece on display is “Future Zapatistas.” You can really see a ray of hope and courage int the young girl's eyes. In a very innocent way, the girl radiates a striking combination of softness and strength. I also like how your work represents so many aspects of Hispanic life: work, politics, culture, religion, hopes, and dreams.
